MBA Degrees Must Be Accredited By AACSB

Business executives who wish to enhance their professional qualifications should beware of advanced degrees that are offered through online institutions. A case in point is Strayer University. Originally named Strayer College in Wash DC and accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, this school renamed itself Strayer University and moved its headquarters to Arlington, VA (Strayer University is a subsidiary of Strayer Education, Inc.).The institution’s principal expansion has been in the online division, located in Newington, VA, and through a number of branch campuses in Virginia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida, states where colleges are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).Strayer does not have SACS accreditation; moreover, the school’s business courses and business degrees (including the MBA) are not accredited by AACSB
