Why Consciouness is a Necessary Tool

I think the time has come to acknowledge that consciousness itself, our minds, and our innate intelligence, all of it, is as much an instrument of science as any instrument ever invented. More so in fact. In historical terms, now that we are on the verge of being able to engineer greater-than-human levels of intelligence, this acknowledgement could not come soon enough.
Like using a telescope to explore outerspace, our consciousness is our tool, our instrument to explore inner space. I find it odd then that Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Intelligence Augmentation (IA) researchers are trying to improve upon an instrument (the mind/brain) without actually using that very instrument (subjective experience) to determine how it works. This idea of reducing our understanding of the brain from the outside, examining its parts, neurons, glia cells and neurotransmitter functioning, without actually using the instrument itself seems disconcertingly inadequate. It would be like a sports fan telling a pro athelete how to play the sport better based on reading a book at the library, but without ever having played the sport themselves.

Multinational Joint Captured Material Exploitation Center

It was midnight local time March 26 when the 221st Military Intelligence Battalion arrived in Kuwait. The war was in its seventh day. Command Sgt. Maj. Lance T. Rygmyr remembers that despite suffering from jet lag, the excitement and apprehension everyone seemed to be feeling filled the air.
"After arriving at Camp Wolf near the Kuwait International Airport, we linked up with the Army’s 513th Military Intelligence Brigade," related Rygmyr. "Part of the battalion remained at Doha while the remainder boarded busses and traveled 42 miles north to Udairi, the northernmost staging base in Kuwait." With the war already underway, the 3rd Infantry Division was streaking its way to Baghdad, and the 101st Airborne was moving out when the Georgia unit arrived at Udairi. Rygmyr said the 221st rolled up its sleeves and went to work.
Some of the members of Company A were among the first soldiers of the 513th to set foot in hostile territory. Their days and nights were spent gathering intelligence from enemy combatants and providing support to other government agencies, Rygmyr explained. The remainder of Company A stayed at Udairi continuing to train. The soldiers of Company H, realizing they weren’t going to get a conventional long range surveillance mission, immediately went into a training mode and "retooled" their efforts to fit the need for other missions.
"They spent an enormous amount of their energies on live fire training, and close-order combat drills," Rygmyr said. "The unit also provided other units with tactical and force protection and convoy security training. "At the same time, they mounted a quick reaction force that supported Udairi, and later a platoon became the main security force for elements of the 513th at Talill Air Base and Baghdad," he said.
LRS soldiers would also provide site and convoy security for teams working for the multinational Joint Captured Material Exploitation Center (JCMEC).

what have you learned about meditation?

I wish that everybody could just let go of all these little notions, these biased notions of what meditation is all about, and just realize that meditation is not just a thing that you do, but actually what’s inside of it, what it’s capable of. To me the meditation and the practice was just a release, such a profound experience. At points when I was meditating, most the time, I even forgot that I was locked up. I forgot about all the things that were unimportant, and all the things that just made me feel bad in my life. Meditation got me to visualize all that there is to be grateful for.

Through a combination of ground-breaking direct service, extensive research and evaluation efforts, advocacy and coalition-building, and capacity-building and training of youth service providers, we are working to create a world where all young people can find authentic freedom.

What is The Mind Body Awareness Project?

At the Mind Body Awareness Project we believe at-risk & incarcerated youth have the potential to take control of their actions and fully transform their lives – they are literally one breath away from making better decisions. As a non-profit organization, we have developed a unique mental training program consisting of mindfulness meditation and emotional intelligence exercises designed to strengthen youth’s minds, relieve their toxic stress, and build their ability to make better decisions. While the medical benefits of mindfulness meditation are well documented, our program is one of the first to bring this cost-effective rehabilitation service into institutions serving at-risk youth.

University of New Mexico

Head coach Mike McGinty says that while the result of an exhibition game is important, the real importance of an exhibition game is the high-level training it provides for the regular season.
Once the regular season starts, at the University of New Mexico on Wednesday, Sept. 1, the Billikens will begin their attack on a litany of ambitious goals.
“We have goals in our locker room that we look at every day: we want to be the national champion; we want to be the regular-season Atlantic 10 champion; and we want to be the conference tournament champion,” McGinty said.
“So those are things we put out there that are definitely tangible goals, and we’re trying to figure out the best way to get there.”
The Billikens’ many goals for this season form a sort of pyramid. At the bottom of the pyramid are character-related qualities, such as discipline and teamwork. These characteristics provide the foundation for the higher-order goals, such as the conference championship and the NCAA championship.
On Aug. 9, the head coaches of all the men’s soccer teams in the A-10 picked SLU to win the conference.Senior James Dice says that more is expected of the players on the men’s soccer team, both on and off the field.“In training, we’re more structured; we’re more organized,” Dice said. “The intensity has gone up a lot since [McGinty’s] arrival in spring. People are a lot more accountable for things they do on and off the field. Responsibility for the older guys is there.”

GMAT and TOEFL tests – preparation necessary

Where these tests are applicable - study for them. Although there is a review course for the GMAT, it is not always necessary, and sometimes does more harm than good since they are taught at the pace of the slowest learner in the class. Buy one or two good books to help you and study on your own at your own pace, at the time of day that suits you best. The TOEFL (test of English as a foreign language) is definitely to be studied for by those students from abroad wishing to gain acceptance to an English-speaking institution. Check what is necessary for MBA admission to the program of your choice.

MBA Admissions essays –get help

The essay, maybe more than any other factor, may decide whether you will be accepted or not to any learning institution. Get advise for saving you both financial and mental resources

Get advise for saving you both financial and mental resources
Life decisions are not to be taken lightly. Seek out professional advise on where, when and how to steer yourself in choosing your career path. The financial investment in such a consultant may be less than what you’ll be spending on GMAT test taking and MBA admission application fees, and may end up ultimately saving you both financial and mental resources.

Be present and be prepared for MBA interviews

Although interviews are generally optional, don’t miss out. Present yourself in the best possible light and be aware of your surroundings. These interviews give both sides a chance to judge who stands before them. If at all possible, go to the interview on the campus, not at a remote location where some alumnus volunteer will interview you. MBA programs change dynamically and it is not entirely sure that these volunteers are kept up-to-date.

Before choosing any one MBA school, visit several

You should try to visit several campuses before settling on a definite choice. To do this, make appointments by calling the MBA admissions staff. They will generally be happy to set up a guided tour for you including inviting you to sit in on classes. Your most valuable tool, though, on these visits is the opportunity to speak with current students. They are usually happy to openly share their experiences, good and bad, with potential students. You would do well to listen carefully and even jot down a few pointers.

Weigh your MBA options carefully

Are you entirely sure that studying for the MBA degree is what you really want? Without trying to warn you away, be quite sure that this is definitely the program you want to spend the next number of years applying all your resources to. The reasons for applying for an MBA admission and then actually doing the work, as well as investing financially in this course, are as varied as each person who enters into this decision. Reasons varying from social pressures, talent diversity, personality traits, and financial limitations are only a few for making one take a good, hard look at choosing MBA as the optimal path for a potential career.

Financial help and free housing to student in Saudi arab

The government's awareness of the key role of quality manpower in the social and economic development of the Kingdom has prompted it to give bountiful support to the education sector. The Saudi government provides general education for both boys and girls, through the Ministry of Education, the General Presidency of Girls Education and other specialized agencies. General education in the Kingdom consists of six years of primary school and three years each of intermediate and high school. The government provides free general and higher education (post secondary), and financial help for male and female students in some areas of general education. University students receive financial help and free housing. In addition, meals, books, and transportation are provided at subsidized prices. Female students are provided with free transportation.

Girls' education enrollments in Saudi arab

As relations with Egypt deteriorated during the 1960s, the Saudi government abandoned the Egyptian model, and proceeded to develop its own educational system. Under the leadership of Kings Faisal (1964-1975) and Khalid (1975-1982), Saudi Arabia established two five-year plans that promoted education to develop the needs of the people as a human resource through education and training and to facilitate the nation's economic infrastructure. The educational system was redesigned to accommodate an increasing number of elementary and intermediate school students. Only 50 percent of the students were permitted to enter into a general secondary education leading to a university degree. The other students were placed in teacher training and vocational and technical education programs. Girls' education enrollments were projected to reach 95 percent of the eligible population.

General Presidency of Girls' Education in Saudi arabia

The General Presidency of Girls' Education, organized in 1960, is the educational counterpart to the Ministry of Education, but for women. Elementary education for girls was started in 1961, and by 1963 girls' education was available at both the intermediate and secondary levels. The General Presidency of Girls' Education is divided into the Directorate General for General Education for elementary, intermediate, and secondary education and the Deputy General of Girls' Colleges which oversees junior college, undergraduate and postgraduate levels and specialized training institutes and technical schools in the fields of nursing, teacher training, tailoring, and adult education.

King Fahd Security College for security training

The Ministry of Higher Education, established in 1975, provides support for Saudi Arabia's seven universities and 78 colleges. It coordinates, supervises, and follows-up postsecondary programs with national development programs in a variety of fields. It reviews requests for study abroad and oversees 27 educational and cultural missions in other countries. The Minister of Higher Education heads the University Council for each university. Expanding and modernizing educational resources in Saudi arabia

In 1952, the United Nations reported that Saudi Arabia had 306 elementary schools, but illiteracy was between 92 and 95 percent. To combat such dire statistics, a Ministry of Education was established in 1953 with Prince (later King) Fahd as the first minister of education entrusted with the task of expanding and modernizing educational resources. The kingdom was divided into school districts, each governed by a superintendent assisted by a technical staff. Within the Ministry of Education, a special department, Popular Culture, was created to combat adult illiteracy. In 1958, the Saudi kingdom adopted a uniform educational policy in cooperation with other Arab states that provided for a six-year compulsory elementary education, a three-year optional intermediate education, and a three-year optional secondary education for men only. In 1961, education for women was mandated, with the responsibility given to the newly created General Directorate of Girls Education. There was considerable resistance to female education within the kingdom, but it abated and during its first decade, 16 primary schools for girls were built with 148 staff members educating 5,200 females.

Saudi Arabia's first educational system was modeled on Egypt's system

Saudi Arabia's first monarch, King Ibn Saud, regarded education as a means to foster national unity and to enlighten the Saudi people. In 1925, public education did not exist. There were only four private elementary schools in the entire country. Therefore, a centralized educational policy was entrusted to the newly established Directorate of Education. Although compulsory education was mandated for a six-year elementary education followed by a five-year secondary cycle, enforcement was difficult without an adequate number of schools. Saudi Arabia's first educational system was modeled on Egypt's system, which, in turn, was heavily influenced by the French educational model. Saudi Arabia's educational system was designed to observe the teachings of Islam, disseminate knowledge, and construct schools.

In 1938, the General Directorate of Education was given full control over all education except for the military. Saudi Arabia's first technical secondary school and school of higher learning, the College of Sharia (now, Umm Al Qura University), were founded in 1949. During the decade of the 1950s, three more colleges were granted charters, the Teachers' College (1952), the College of Sharia in Riyadh (1953), and the College of Arabic Language in Riyadh (1954).
